Another sign of the fact that Michelangelo was an obsessional neurotic - unable to tolerate anything other than 'perfection'. Evidently an 'imperfect' drawing by Michelangelo would have been a great masterpiece compared to almost anyone else. It is like Mravinsky who cancelled a public performance on the grounds that the rehearsal had been so perfect it would be impossible for the concert to equal it
